Rhinoplasty Introduction
Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. With 223,000 surgeries performed in a recent year, nose reshaping ranks third among cosmetic surgery procedures in the United States. The fact that nearly a quarter of a million people undergo rhinoplasty every year is not surprising. The nose is a prominent facial feature and is the center of attention. The correction of this one feature can often create a more balanced and attractive facial appearance.
When your nose is too big or oddly shaped, it can take away from your natural beauty and make breathing difficult. In this case, Dr. X can perform rhinoplasty to alter its shape and structure, resulting in a beautiful and natural-looking new nose.

How Rhinoplasty Works
Most patients prefer general anesthesia, but some may elect to have a “twilight sedation” or intravenous sedation. During the rhinoplasty surgery, incisions are made to access the bones and cartilage that support the nose.
The incisions are created inside the nose so that they are invisible after the surgery. Sometimes, it is necessary to make a tiny incision underneath the nose as well. Depending on the desired result, some bone and cartilage may be removed, or tissue may be added (either from another body part or synthetic filler).
The bones may need to be shifted in a very controlled fashion to make your nose narrower. After reshaping the bones and cartilage, the skin is then redraped over the underlying structures of the nose. A splint is then placed outside the nose to support the new shape of the nose as it heals.
Why Choose Us?
If you’re planning a rhinoplasty, choose a surgeon with experience. Dr. X has been practicing cosmetic nasal surgery for more than a decade, incorporating the latest cutting-edge advances. It is, therefore, crucial to choose the right rhinoplasty surgeon “For You”. According to Dr. X, every patient’s nose is unique and requires an individualized approach to rhinoplasty. Each patient has a different nasal structure and anatomy. Surgical plans must be customized according to the characteristics of the nasal skin, cartilage, and bone.
Rhinoplasty surgery today aims to strike a balance between nasal form and function. The goal of Dr. X is to achieve natural-looking results without the tell-tale signs of overdone nasal surgery. Rhinoplasty procedures that were overly pinched and scooped in the 1990s are a thing of the past. No cookie-cutter approach is used, and no corners are cut. It may have been easier to identify patients who had “nose jobs” in the past, but today, the aim of rhinoplasty is to create a nose that strikes a natural balance with the rest of the face. Dr. X strives to create a naturally beautiful result so others will assume you were just “lucky” to have such a beautiful nose. Your secret is safe with us!
BENEFITS OF RHINOPLASTY
Get a more attractive nose
Cosmetic flaws can be corrected to create a nose that is more harmonious with the rest of the face. Nose jobs can improve all aspects of the nose, including the nasal dorsum (nasal bridge), nasal tip, and nostrils.
Boost your self-esteem
Rhinoplasty patients often have been self-conscious about their noses for decades. Many patients report improved self-image, social relationships, and a better social life after receiving the nose they’ve always wanted.
Balance your facial features
Dr. X can reshape your nose to look more appropriate and in proportion to your other facial features using skill and artistry. By enhancing your overall look rather than changing it completely, he ensures that your results will be natural-looking.
Improve your breathing
Correcting nasal obstruction can also improve functionality. Obstruction of the nasal passages can be caused by a deviation of the nasal septum, hypertrophy of the turbinate, collapse of the nasal valve, or trauma to the nose. Optimizing nasal form and function is the overall goal of rhinoplasty.
Better sleep and less snoring
A deviated septum can cause snoring. In such cases, rhinoplasty may be recommended to help you sleep better.
Rhinoplasty Timeline
Immediately after
It is of great help to apply ice immediately after your rhinoplasty in the recovery room to prevent swelling and bruising. The first 48 hours should be spent icing as much as possible.
Day One
Sleeping slightly upright on the first night, with two or three pillows, helps drain any blood from the nose. As a result, swelling and bruising are reduced.
One Week
Most likely, your facial plastic surgeon will remove your splint after examining your nose. Some minor bruising may occur around the eyes during this time, but otherwise, you should be able to continue your normal routine.
Second Week
There should be a significant decrease in the amount of facial bruising and swelling by now.
Third-Fourth Week
You can resume cardiovascular exercise at this point if you work out regularly.
Sixth Week
As long as the bones are stable, resistance workouts and strength training can be resumed. Before resuming strenuous physical activity, consult Dr. X.
Three-Six Months Later
As of this point, you should no longer be experiencing any numbness or abnormal sensations around your nose.
One Year
This should be the end of the healing process, give or take a few weeks or months. At this point, you shouldn't experience swelling, bruising, discomfort, redness, or pain. Rhinoplasty results should also be visible to the fullest extent.
FAQ’s
What are the different types of rhinoplasty?
There are two types of rhinoplasties: open and closed.
The open rhinoplasty procedure involves cutting into the columella, the tissue between the nostrils, to reshape the nose. Incisions are placed in such a way that they are virtually invisible after they have healed. The surgical method is suitable for patients who require more extensive corrections, particularly to the nasal tip. In order to achieve lasting results, the nasal tip’s support structure must be protected during surgery. Many plastic surgeons recommend this technique because it allows for greater control during surgery and reduces the risk of errors.
Closed rhinoplasty, or “scarless” rhinoplasty, is highly popular with patients. Using this technique, no visible scars are left on the surface after the incisions are made inside the nostrils. However, this method is not appropriate for extensive corrections to the nose tip or bridge. Only your plastic surgeon can evaluate your nose structure and determine what surgical approach is best for you. Compared to open rhinoplasty, closed rhinoplasty will heal faster and will not leave a tiny scar.
During and after rhinoplasty, what can I expect?
In order to perform a rhinoplasty, general anesthesia is used. Dr. X will place a splint and a cast on your nose after the procedure. Before you are discharged to go home, you will spend an hour or so recovering from anesthesia. You will need someone to drive you due to the residual effects of anesthesia.
After nose surgery, you can expect some bruising, swelling, and puffiness. The swelling should start to subside within 2 to 3 weeks. After surgery, your nose will look better than before even with swelling. To minimize swelling and discomfort, ice packs and medications can be used, and cover-up makeup can be used to conceal bruises. In a year, your new nose shape has become a part of you, stable, and balanced, and the incision has almost disappeared. In most cases, all reshaping and refining has been completed.
